As a volunteer for Ronald McDonald House Charities® of the Bluegrass you have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our families.  There are a number of ways in which you can contribute.

Shift volunteering is available at both Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald Family Rooms.

Dinner Groups

Nothing keeps families together like a "home" cooked meal!

Come prepare a dinner for our families and receive the double blessing of both serving and meeting/greeting our wonderful families. We serve at 7 p.m. and have everything in our kitchen that you could need (except ingredients) to make a home-cooked meal.

Groups can sign-up to prepare dinner by contacting Beth White, Volunteer & Guest Services Manager at 859-368-8437 or e-mail bwhite@rmhclexington.com.

Volunteer from Home

If you are interested in helping families staying at Ronald McDonald House or one of our Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, but don’t have an extended amount of time available to visit the House or the hospital, are too young, or have a group that is too large to accommodate, we have plenty of suggestions for things that you can work on from your very own home.

Suggestions include:

  • Collect wish list items that help keep our programs running and meet the needs of our families.
  • Collect pull tabs off of soft drink cans, soup cans, etc. so that we can recycle them and use that money for the House.
  • Prepare Care Packages for families staying at the House.

Get more information by contacting Beth White, Volunteer & Guest Services Manager at 859-368-8437 or e-mail bwhite@rmhclexington.com.

Service Hours

Occasional one-time volunteer opportunities are available for an individual or groups as large as ten. Individuals must be at least 16 years or older to volunteer for this opportunity without an adult. Tasks typically include light cleaning around the House such as vacuuming, unloading dishwashers, straightening the kitchen, etc.

Our kitchen is also available for “treat creation,” all you need to bring is the ingredients and yourself! Special projects, such as mailings or stuffing goody bags may be needed different times of the year.
